Fun At the Pool

This morning we took the girls swimming again, Double Joy, the moms of multiples local group, rented out the Grain Valley pool for the morning. They had so much fun sitting in the pool splashing the water. It was fun being out and not being the circus act with twins since everyone there had their own set. Here are just a few pictures from the day.

My Big Girls!

Here are a few pictures from Sunday. This was their first try with their sippy cups and they did great! And yes they are lazy with their feet up on their highchair tray. Also, a few pictures of them slapping the kitchen floor, they love it!

Lillian and Claire

7 Months

I cannot believe 7 months have passed already since Lillian and Claire were born. They have grown and developed so much and so fast. They are still getting used to eating different foods and so far they are not big fans of anything green. Their favorite is bananas and nectarines, tomorrow we will try apples. They are both army crawling and exploring everything. They love the sound it makes when they slap the kitchen floor, it is much more fun then hitting the carpet. We have started to practice using sippy cups (pictures to come) and have caught on pretty well. They know how to hold them and how to put them in their mouth. It is the whole drinking part that is trouble, they would rather get the water out and then spit it out. They are not crazy about practicing their sitting. There is too much else they would rather play with and grab at, besides, why sit still when you can be on the move? Both Lillian and Claire love Leia so much. They like going after her toys, smile and giggle with her kisses, and are always trying to "pet" her. Here are some pictures from tonight. Enjoy!

A New Favorite Video

Last night Lillian and Claire were cracking me up. They were so full of giggles, hiccups, knee slapping, singing, chatter, and everything inbetween that I just have to share it. The video is a little long at 5 minutes, but I love it! Lillian is on the left and Claire is on the right.

One Year Ago Today...

One year ago today we went in for a sonogram to hopefully find out the sex of our baby at almost 16 weeks, instead we got the surprise of a lifetime; twins! This was the last thing we were expecting to find out. Josh and I were full of shock, excitement, fear, confusion... you name it, we felt it. Luckily I was laying down or I probably would have fallen over when hearing the news. Josh was standing next to me looking at the large screen trying to understand what we were just told. The u/s tech could tell the instant she looked at the screen, "oh, there are two. You are having twins." I don't think she realized we did not know this information.

This is the first picture we saw when we found out twins. You can see the head of Lillian (baby a) on the left and a cross section of the abdomen of Claire (baby b) on the right. This was the moment our lives would really change forever.
Here is Claire and Lillian today.

This has been an amazing year and I will never forget the thoughts and feelings that I experienced that day. Never did I expect for my life to turn out this way, with the craziness of twins, but I would not have it any other way. This has been the hardest, but the best year of my life and I cannot wait to see what the next 50 years has to bring with my beautiful baby girls.

Our Weekendy

Lillian, Claire and I had a great weekend together. On Saturday we went over to Maggie's and had some play time over there after some burgers. They both loved watching the cats walk back and forth past them and would smile at them wanting to be friends. This morning Josh and I took the girls to church and they were so chatting and squeeling with glee through most of the service, they have been such happy babies the past several weeks.

How our weekend ended. They were both so tired they slept through their entire bottle.
All tangled up
Enjoying some ice in their mesh feeders. They were soaked and messy, but they had fun!

Ack... Green Beans

Today we tried green beans for the first time and Lillian and Claire were not fans. Here are some before and during pictures from dinner time.

Making Baby Food!

First, I want to send out a special thank you to Maggie for letting me borrow your food processor. Tonight I spent an hour and made about a months worth of food for Lillian and Claire. I made peas, green beans, carrots, peaches and bananas. I can't wait to get to the store to buy some more fruits and vegetables and try those out. It was so easy to do and a fraction of the cost I would spend buying jarred food. Now, I just hope the girls will enjoy it all. Any suggestions on what else I should make?

I have two army crawlers!

Claire and Lillian have both started doing the army crawl and I feel they will be doing some full on crawling pretty quickly. They are both busy little bees and you can see the pride in their face when they have reached their destination. Neither of them really have any interest in sitting up on their own, they just want to move and nothing is going to slow them down. Yesterday was the first time I really noticed Claire doing her army crawl and Lillian was on the go tonight.

Bananas and More

Tonight I gave the bananas a third try and it is slowly getting better. After it being a big failure on Tuesday, which was their first taste, I decided last night to mix a little banana into their cereal. Lillian was not having it, she did not look happy with the idea of me trying to trick her into eating them. Claire, ate hers right up and ate a lot! Tonight it went the same way, except I added more banana and less cereal, it went the same as last night. Lillian pushed it all back out and Claire ate like a champ. I made up some green beans so tomorrow I might try those at dinner time.
Today I believe the napping boycott came to an end. To refresh you all, both girls decided a few weeks ago that they are too big for naps. They would take maybe 2 30 minute naps a day, if we were lucky. Today they both took great hour long morning nap for Josh, Lillian took a 1.5 hour nap later in the morning and then Claire slept for about 2 hours this afternoon and Lillian slept for another hour. Now I am hoping they will be able to sleep through all the fireworks the neighbors are setting off tonight, because this is only a small preview of the mass amounts they will set off tomorrow.
