The Arrival of the Sand/Water Table

Earlier this week Josh and I ordered a sand and water table for the girls along with a picnic table. The picnic table arrived yesterday and the water table was delivered today. If the girls have half as much fun with these once they are out of the box as they did climbing all over the boxes we will have a great summer. Hopefully it doesn't rain this weekend so we can get the yard mowed and set them up.

Here are the items we bought. (kids not included)

The Past Two Years

Exactly two years ago I found out I was pregnant That night I knew my life would never been the same, but I had no idea what I was really in for at that point. One year ago I had two adorable 4 month old babies. Tonight as I sit here, my 16 month old babies are asleep, er playing, in bed. They dance, talk, kiss, hug, jump, sing, tickle, and know how to push my buttons. My life is amazing right now and I can't wait to see what next April brings our way.

Last night I promised pictures and I have done just that. The first set is from exactly 1 year ago (April 28, 2009) and I had a hard time narrowing them down. I look at these photos and can hardly remember my babies being so that small, and to think they were so much smaller, and having such little hair.

Here are some new ones from last night and tonight. Both girls love taking a comb or brush and fixing their own hair, here Lillian is showing off her skills.
It is hard to get a picture, mostly because the will not sit still, but check out the long curly locks.

Lillian was enjoying sitting in the toy bin and was not happy Claire wanted in as well.

Lillian stood up and fell out of the bin. She was trying so hard to get back in and was not happy when she was not successful.
Claire is some where behind all that hair.
They were refusing to eat their actual dinner, so tonight they ate graham crackers, goldfish and raisins.

I am sorry for not updated much recently. The battery on my camera has not been charging for more then the past week, not sure why, but it stinks. Tonight it finally started to charge fully so tomorrow I can get some pictures.
Not much new to update for us. I am busy serving jury duty this week and the girls are lucky enough to get to spend their afternoons with Aunt Maggie and playing hard.
They are starting to say more words which is always exciting. They are both starting to reply more frequently to questions with either saying yes and no or shaking/nodding their head, it is amazing how much their communication skills have developed in just the past week.

Tomorrow I will have an update full of pictures and so much more. Promise.

Who Needs Toys?

Who needs toys when you can play with a box of tissue? Yesterday morning I decided to set a box of tissue on the floor and let Lillian and Claire go nuts. They loved it! They sat there and pulled tissue after tissue out of the box and you could just see the pure excitement on their faces. They were giggling little girls that is for sure. Less then half way through the box (it was a big box) I took it away and we say there and had fun throwing the tissue up in the air and letting it land on our heads and tickle our toes.

Claire has been a drooling fool lately as you can see by her shirt.

16 Months

Another month has passed and Lillian and Claire are now 16 months old. This is unreal how fast each month passes. Life is busy in our house with two little girls who are wanting to become very independent. Claire refuses anything in her hair for any length of time now, so she is always a mess with hair in her face. Lillian has also started to play hard to get and fighting getting her hair done.
They are trying so hard to to move as fast as they can, but in return they are falling a lot more then usual and getting many more bumps and bruises. They both have 11 (or so) teeth now. It is hard to tell for sure since the second you put a finger in their mouth to feel for them, they chomp down on your finger.
One of the best parts of them getting a little older is that they are now more consistently sleeping until 8:30 instead of 8 and some mornings even later. Don't worry, I just knocked on wood. Most days now they are also only taking one nap, which usually lasts close to 3 hours in the afternoon.
They both crack me up though. Lillian has this goofy fake laugh which she will sit there and do over anything or she will scrunch her face up and give a great big smile. Claire is dancing so much more now and gets so excited when she does. They have figured out how to climb onto the couch, but that usually only happens when Josh or I are also up there, this I am not excited for.
They love Leia. They love giving her "soft touches" but sometimes forget and it becomes more of a hitting. They are always so happy to see her and love to cuddle with her. We are lucky Leia is very patient with both girls and handles the abuse well.
As you can see by the pictures below, they have no interest in sitting still and/or getting their picture taken. I have very few pictures lately of them actually looking towards me with a smile. They sat about a whole two seconds for this first picture, before they were up and away.

Claire was not very pleased with me for trying to get her to sit still.
Lillian really had little interest in listening to me as usual.

Road Trip to Wisconsin

Last week Wednesday we left bright and early at 5:30am to head up to Wisconsin. Okay, so it wasn't so bright since the sun was not up, but it sure was early! We had a long trip ahead of us, so we decided to leave early in the hopes the girls would go back to sleep until their normal wake up time of 8am, that did not work out like we had planned. They stayed awake ALL morning while driving. We stopped for breakfast and again for a picnic lunch somewhere in Iowa. The girls enjoyed being able get out of the car and run around as far and as fast as they wanted through the grass. This was a nice long break from being in the car and we all felt refreshed for the second half of the drive. After another 6 hours in the car, grand total about 12 hours, we finally made it up to Green Bay.

On Thursday we went with Grandpa Mark to the New Zoo just north of Green Bay. It was a smaller zoo, but perfect for the girls who wouldn't be able to handle an entire day out without becoming grumpy and tired. Grandpa was prepared with a pocket full of quarters for all the animal food machines. We let the girls try feeding the goats, but they just wanted to have the feed as a snack for themselves.

Claire lead Grandpa around.

My big girls checking out all of the animals.
There was this really neat platform we were able to walk up and be at eye level with the giraffes. I have never seen a giraffe that close and they were sweet and beautiful. Again, we got to feed them special crackers and I was surprised the chickies did not try to eat the crackers and waited patiently for their turn.

We also got to spend some time with Uncle Mark and cousin Coy. I cannot get over how big that sweet boy is getting, I hate not being able to see him very often. We had a fun time playing outside and he taught the girls all about the fish pond. Oh did he teach them. Josh and I were busy trying to keep them from climbing right into the water to swim along side the fish.
A cute family photo

After we had to say our goodbyes to Grandpa Mark we headed south down to Milwaukee. We had a quick stop to Kopps to get a scoop of custard (you can't drive 12 hours to Milwaukee and not stop for custard) and also drove past the house I grew up in. It looks the same buy different and driving around Whitefish Bay it all seemed like such a distant memory, it has been years since I have been back there and it is hard to remember what life was like then. It was nice to drive through those streets again though.
Next we headed over to see my grandparents and visit with them. The girls enjoyed running around their house and pulling everything off the shelves. I hate only being able to see them a few times a year and them only being able to see the girls twice a year. We stayed a few hours then had to move along to Grandma Jessie's house.
We had a great few days with Grandma, again they tore the house apart and explored every nook and cranny. We went out for a delicious lunch and the girls ate most of their grilled cheese, but were too busy looking around and enjoying all the attention they receive. After lunch we headed back to the house and two tired girls went down for a nap while my Mom and I went shopping for the girls. I think they are pretty set now for their summer clothes and I can't wait to see how adorable they look in everything. Their shirts say it all, but Grandma sure does spoil them!

Later Saturday afternoon we enjoyed a get together with family and friends. We had a special visit from my Aunt Patty and Aunt Joyce, sadly my camera battery died and I didn't get any more pictures from that day. Also, Aunt Holly came and spent time with us. It was a very windy afternoon and both girls kept getting blown over outside, but Claire sure got the worst of it. She has a nice big bruise on her forehead from taking a few head dives on the concrete, but she is a trooper and doing great.
Sunday morning we had to get back in the car for another long drive. It is always so nice to get away from home, especially to go visit family, but it is always so hard to say goodbye. While driving we had several stops again for leg stretches and after another 12 long hours we made it hope around 10:30pm, well past bed time. We had two very cranky babies but we all slept like rocks last night in our own beds. Oh that felt wonderful!

Thank you to everyone who helped make our trip so special and I feel so bad there are so many people we were not able to see during our short visit. Hopefully our next trip up can be even longer and we won't miss a single person.
