Shark Attack

I have seriously been slacking lately with the picture taking and posting. I need to get better about this. I have excuses though, don't you worry. We have been stuck inside so much lately because the temperatures are too hot to be able to get out and do anything, so I feel like I am constatly taking the same photos indoors. The few times we do get outside to play it is with the water table or pool and I have already taken hundreds of photos with those this summer and we are only halfway through. To sum things up, I feel like i am always taking the same photos and like everyone is getting sick of seeing the same thing just a different day. Hey, and most of the time the girls are running around half naked.

Moving along, we had a shark feeding frenzy in our house the other evening. After an exciting bath Lillian and Claire ran around chasing each other with their shark towels. They ran up and down the hall and circles around the living room. As the they run you can hear them make the shark sound. I am sure right now you are wondering, what sound does a shark make? Well let me tell you, they sound a little like this in our house, naa na, naa na, na na na na na na, na NAAA!

Beating the Heat

Since we haven't had any rain for weeks, our lawn is taking a hit. The other evening before dinner I set the sprinkler up in the yard. The girls got so excited and all through dinner kept asking to play outside in the sprinkler. I knew they would wuss out and not want to go any where near it, but agreed. After dinner, both of the girls were so excited and stripped down instantly ready to go play.
Once we got outside, neither of them would even leave the deck until I turned the sprinkler down. Even then, they did not go anywhere near it. Claire tried to brave it a few times, but once the droplets touched her, she ran in the opposite direction. Lillian avoided the water all together.
Finally, I unhooked the sprinkler since I needed to water the garden and suddenly the girls became very interested in the hose. Same with Leia. They all swarmed me and wanted a turn spraying with the hose. I showed them how to squeeze the handle and let them have fun. They sprayed the plants, Leia, the grass, but the best part was when they would spray each other. Claire, of course, thought it was funny and didn't mind so much if Lillian got her wet. Lillian, on the other hand, flipped out in her usually prissy way when her hair gets wet. They did a great job taking turns spraying, but the cherry that topped the whole evening was when Claire squeezed the handle on the sprayer and sprayed herself right in the face.

These 100 degree days are really getting old and hopefully some relief is in sight.

Sleepy Girls

Yesterday we had to go in and wake the girls up from their naps and this is what we found.

Claire was twirling her hair, surrounded by her animal.

Lillian was snoring.

Oh Happy Day!

I am happy to report, the girls are no longer afraid to take baths. This is HUGE news in our house, since for months they would throw major fits and sob through the quick washings. They are now asking, well, mostly Claire, to take baths every single day. We have been taking double the amount of baths, since they beg for them and they usually end up spending a good chunk of the morning in the water playing.
For even bigger news, Claire the last two times she has been in the tub, has told me she needed to poop. We quickly get her out of the tub, she does her thing, then hops back in the tub. So much better then having floaters in the bath.
Lillian is still a little timid in the tub, but warming up. It is so wonderful being able to let them play and have fun for 20 minutes or so in the water. Of course, my bathroom is soaked after, but all worth it.

Double the Cuteness

Just a couple quick pictures from this morning. Unfortunately, they were too quick and I missed the super sweet kisses they gave each other, but I love their faces in these photos.

Daddy's Weekend

This past weekend I had the chance to get away for a girls weekend with a few other women. We spent the weekend at Lake of the Ozarks in a great little lake house. There is nothing like a weekend away from life, including no cell reception, to recharge.
While I was away, Josh was able to spend some quality time with Lillian and Claire. Believe it or not, this is the first time he has ever spent a day, or night for that matter, just him and the girls in the house. It sounds like they had a great time playing, swimming, and going to the grocery store together. I will have to check the camera tomorrow to see if he took any pictures while I was away.

Life is Normal

Things around here have been pretty normal. The girls are still full of the crazies and their nonstop energy. It can be exhausting, but they are so much fun. Their imaginations are continuing to blossom and they are always coming up with new games and ideas. Lillian has been dancing around the house as a ballerina lately. Claire is always singing Barney.
They are both still doing great with potty training. We are two weeks in now and have maybe one accident a day. Many times when we go out, they even keep their Pull Ups dry.
Life is all around really good right now.

Left Over Birthday

Here are a few left over photos from my birthday on Thursday. Josh had called my friend, Kylie, and asked her to watch the girls so we could go on a lunch date. Kylie showed up with with birthday hats and other special goodies to help celebrate. The girls have been so excited to wear party hats since they first heard my mention my birthday over a month ago. Josh and I were talking one evening about possible plans and Claire asked if she could wear a birthday hat. They had a Dora book from the library about a birthday party and they wore hats in it and it stuck.

The girls will still on occasion say happy birthday to me. I think their 3rd birthday this year will be a lot more fun since they are figuring out all the excitement that comes along with birthdays. Luckily, I have 6 more months, because I can't handle the tought of them being 3 yet.

The End of the First Week

We have finished our first week of potty training and I am very pleased with how well the girls are doing. Today Lillian had two accidents. The first was very small. She was able to stop herself and finish on the potty chair. The second, was just after dinner and she was being stubborn by refusing to stop playing to go sit down. Claire didn't have any accidents today. The last few days they both have had about one each, still great for only being a week in.
We have not taken them out of the house wearing just their undies yet, they always have "special undies" aka Pull Ups on. Often though, if we take a quick trip to the grocery store or another errand, we will return home and their Pull Up will still be dry.
I sometimes take the lead if they do have not gone potty for about an hour and have them take a break from what they are doing to sit. Sometimes I will insist they sit down if I notice them getting a little squirmy. However, more then half the time they will tell them they have to go or start pulling their undies down on their own.

Claire decided one night that she wanted to sit on the bit toilet as she calls it. Since then she requests to sit there often and will spend the whole day sitting up there if I let her. She likes to grab any books and magazines that are within reach and spend a little quality alone time there.
Lillian still wants nothing to do with the big toilet. She flips out if we ask her to sit there and runs out of the bathroom. She also enjoys some of Daddy's reading material while passing the time.

I am extremely proud of how well they are doing and can't wait to see how far they come in the next week.
