Snow Day

We finally have snow around here! Sure it is the end of February, but better late than never. When I woke up around 7am I peeked out the window and not a flurry had fallen yet. While Josh was cooking breakfast at 9am, we already had well over 6 inches of snow. The snow stopped around 1pm and I am not sure what our current total is, but it sure is a lot. I love it!
Lillian and Claire received some new sleds from Auntie Holly for their birthday and have not had the chance to use them, we have not seen snow here since December. We tested them out on our front hill while Josh had the fun job of shoveling the driveway.
Claire is in the pink and was much more willing to have me photograph her, Lillian is in the blue and was constantly turning away when she saw me come after her with the camera.

Well Rounded

I would like to think Lillian and Claire are very well rounded and have many interests. They run around with tiaras and princess dresses on, but will pick up their Nerf guns while prancing and shoot zombies they draw on their chalkboard. They dig in the mud while wearing their sparkle shoes and pink dresses. They dance circles in the kitchen with their imaginary partners, Tony (Stark) aka Iron Man and Captain America. They beg to watch Power Rangers while snuggling in their favorite Tinker Bell jammies.
Lillian loves to put her hand to hear ear and pretend she is chatting on the phone and when she chats she is always talking to Tony. After hearing her talk about Tony several times, I finally asked her who Tony was, she said, "you know, Tony Stark. That's Iron Mans real name."

Happy Valentine's Day

I know it is a day late, but I have a good reason. Yesterday afternoon I took the girls into the backyard to try and take a few photos of them in their Valentine's skirts I made for them and bows. We only had a few minutes before we had leave for their speech appointment, so I quickly took a bunch pictures and then uploaded to the computer. Of course, I didn't have time to weed through all of the goofy faces, closed eyes and blurry ones, so I left it at that. The rest of the evening filled up and Josh and I declared it a night of no computers, phones or anything else. Pictures didn't get posted because I was too busy spending quality time with my hubby. Here are just a few of the many I took. Lillian was being stubborn and would not give me a real smile, so most of them she has her silly face smile. Actually, I don't think I was able to get a big toothy grin from Claire either. Oh well. Both girls come up with the funniest poses when I take their pictures. So enjoy!

Mud Pies

Off and on we have been experiencing some slightly warmer days. The sun shines bright and we spend as much time playing outside as possible. Of course playing outside this time of the year on a warm day means mud and Lillian and Claire are not afraid to get dirty. They flock to the puddles of water and mix in some dirt and create "chocolate milk" as they call it. The more sludge the better.

They dug out their water table toys and filled those with their lovely concoction. Nothing is safe from these two when they start to get dirty.

They decided their cars needed to be washed, so they received a nice mud bath. It wasn't too long after we went inside and Lillian and Claire received a bath as well. It's not often they get one before dinner, but from the messes they made, it was necessary.

I love that they have so much fun being outside. Every time we go out they keep entertained for hours and we have to drag them inside for dinner or bed time.

Swimsuit is February

Last week during "quiet time" Lillian and Claire had a party in their room. When I told them they could come out, this is what came to me. Yup, two little girls dressed in their swimming suits ready to strut their stuff. They ask often if it is summer yet so we can go swimming. I told them, sadly, they are going to have to wait a few more months.

Oh and these poses they did all on their own when I asked them to look at the camera. Oy are we in for it!

I can't remember if I have shared some of these photos or not, so here they are. A few weeks ago we had one of our unseasonable warm days, so Lillian, Claire and myself spent the evening outside until the sun was setting.

K Quilt

Some wonderful friends of ours are now counting down the final weeks until they will be blessed with the adoption of a baby girl. Last weekend I went to a baby shower for them and as part of their gift I made them a quilt. I kept it simple since I didn't have a lot of time to make something with more piecing. Adoption from what I have seen is a wild ride and obviously doesn't always give you the same 9 months of planning. I don't remember the final measurements of this quilt, but it is the perfect size for a crib/toddler bed. My machine was acting up while quilting it and caused me a lot stress. I spent more time pulling threads then quilting, but it was worth it. This is what I came up with.

The back is pieced and isn't perfectly straight, but I like it. Claire took one look at it and got excited, "it's a cross for Jesus!"
I just hope baby K will get a lot of snuggle time with it.

The Line Up

Grandpa Mark and Grandma Sandy bought Lillian and Claire these dresses for their birthday. Of course they love their Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty dresses and have wearing them around the house nonstop lately. I wanted to take a quick picture to send my dad so he could see them in the dresses and it turned into quite the production. Lillian insisted that all of their dolls be lined up and join them for the photo. The picture is terribly blurry and Claire's eyes are closed, but I still think it's pretty cute.
