Happy Easter

He is risen!
Happy Easter. I am proud of myself for getting a holiday post up on the actual holiday and not two weeks later. You would think that after 6 years I would be used to Josh not being able to celebrate all the holidays with us, but it is still tough on me. Luckily he was able to stop past the house when Lillian and Claire woke up and was able to see them find their baskets buckets and discover what the bunny brought for them. We have cute baskets for them, but of course I waited until late last night to try to find them and they have gone missing. These buckets were sitting in the garage so they were used this year. Josh had to get back on the road, so the girls and I had breakfast and then got ready for church. After church we headed to Grandma Pattie and Grandpa Jim's house for lunch and an egg hunt. Lillian and Claire had a blast. Lillian ran as fast as she could, collecting as many eggs as she could. Claire ran fast, but would stop to crack open each egg and drop her candy in the bucket and then throw the empty egg aside.
The weather was perfect today, so they spent most of the day playing outside and they loved every minute of it.

Dresses were made by me.

This morning while getting ready for work, I walked to the kitchen to grab a cup of coffee. When I walked back through the living room Claire had just woken up and was snuggling next to Josh on the couch. Lillian was still asleep. I nuzzled in next to Claire and Josh and looked up and saw this photo hanging on our living room wall. At that moment I felt so blessed and couldn't help but smile. I have an amazing little family and I wouldn't trade them and our time together for anything.

Yesterday we had new windows put in our home. Well, not all of our were replaced, but all of the bedroom windows, our large living room window and our sliding patio door. American Exteriors did a wonderful job and the new windows without grids really make the windows seem so much larger. They arrived at our home at 8:30am and were cleaned up and gone around 1pm. Josh was home with the girls and I was at work while the windows were being installed. When I came home you could feel the difference in our home already. The temperature seemed so much warmer even though the thermostat was at the same temperature and while sitting in my favorite corner of the couch there was no longer a draft from the large window. I am certain that  the money we will save on our heating a cooling bills will help pay for the cost of the windows.

We have been living in our house for more than 6 years now and I have never been a fan of the green around the windows and on the front door. Now that we have these beautiful new windows, I think the color looks even more dingy. Guess it is time to buy some paint and get those take care of this spring.

The before pictures were taken Monday afternoon and the after pictures were taken Tuesday afternoon. I love seeing how much snow has melted in those 24 hours.

The last two weeks have brought a lot of changes for our family. Some I am not yet ready to talk about and some cannot be missed. We'll save the ones I am not ready to discuss yet for another post, maybe in a month or so. (No I am not pregnant) Another big change that has happened was not at all expected, we bought a new (to us) car. We have been talking about purchasing a new car for a few months now since both of our cars are now 10+ years old, but decided to wait until fall since both cars were functioning just fine. Well that has all changed. Earlier this week our Subaru Forrester started making a grinding noise while driven. This wasn't a pleasant sound since we just spent $1,200 replacing the rear barrings over Thanksgiving. We were hoping with all of the snow we have had the past week that there was something stuck or very minor. Josh took our car in to get checked out on Thursday and all of our breaks were needing to be replaced. This news was not happy news since we just replaced them roughly a year ago. At some point, I really have no idea how this happened, we decided to say goodbye to our 10 year old Subaru Forrester and purchase a new car.
We ended up finding a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan for very low mileage for a great price. I have always vowed I would never drive a minivan so it hurts me more than you know to say I am now the owner of one. Lillian and Claire love it. They think the "robot" automatic doors are the coolest thing ever and cannot believe the magic button that can open them before we even get to the van. The timing for needing to purchase a new car is terrible for several reasons, but I know we will be much more comfortable driving in this that what we currently have.

This was taken after school on Friday.
Another big change happening for us this week are new windows. About a month ago we ordered new windows for our house and they are being installed on Tuesday. I'll have to remember to post before and after pictures. Yup, like I said, not a good time for everything to be spiraling on us like this and there is even more to it all. Hopefully March brings many more positives for our family than February did because I am so over things just not working out.
