For several months now we have been having some urination issues with Claire. It start back in April, Claire would be playing and dancing and then all of a sudden drop to the floor with an urgency of needing to go to the bathroom and trying to hold it. We thought it might have been a UTI, but there was no fever or pain for her, just that urgency and frequency. After a few weeks we took her into the pediatrician. It was torture trying to get her to give a urine sample, she is stubborn and would not let go of the urine. The tests came back negative for a UTI and the doctor said he thinks it is something called Dysfunctional Voiding and that tends to go away after a few weeks. She had a few good days where she was accident free and we thought maybe we were finally done with it, but it didn't last. The urgency, frequency and constant accidents started up again. Because of the way she was acting during this, we knew it was not behavioral, but it is still so hard not to get frustrated when your four year old who has been potty trained for two years has multiple accidents a day. We made another appointment with the pediatrician as soon as she started complaining about pain. This brought another negative UTI test and no answers. Because of our concerns our pediatrician sent in a referral for a urologist at Children's Mercy so we can hopefully figure out what is causing Claire this discomfort. Even if there is not pain, she should not need to urinate every 15 minutes and have that come out of no where. Unfortunately, they are backed up and we cannot be seen until September. Claire has usually one or two good days a week being accident free or only one accident. I really hope that when we finally have our appointment and more tests we are able to figure out what is causing her so much trouble.

Baby Shoes!

I have been busy making baby shoes again and I love it! I love spending time with my sewing machine and I love projects that come together in just a single sitting. Well, a single sitting if the girls are not home otherwise it can take twice as long with the many interruptions when they are supposed to have quiet time. Anyways, here are some I have made recently and I love all of them.

If you are on Facebook and you don't already like my Two Little Birds page, click HERE and share the love. I have been posting a ton of new bows lately.

Celebrating 4th of July

Our 4th of July was very low key and quiet, well, except for all of the loud booms, and it was perfect. I loved having everyone at home and together, that doesn't happen often on holidays in our family. We had bomb pops, grilled, set off fireworks and went to see a large fireworks display. Here are just a few pictures from our day.

Summer Fun

The weather this summer has been unbelievably beautiful and we have been spending as much time as possible before it really heats up. Last week we made some sidewalk paint using water, corn starch and food coloring, something different than the usual sidewalk chalk. I have a ton of small sponge paintbrushes that I bought at Michael's super cheap and we put them to use. The colors do not dry as vibrant as they are in the pan, but they still have a neat finish. Sadly, an hour after we finished outside it started storming and all of their painting was washed away.

The two little princesses are still constantly running around in their princess dresses. They love wearing them outside and pretending their climber is their castle. They have also figured out their Crazy Coupe cars make great stools to talk be peeping toms on the neighbors. Actually, they spend a lot of time chatting with the little boy next door through the cracks in the fence, they just wanted a better view.
We are only a month into the summer and I would say it is a safe bet that we have been in the water in some form or another at least once a week, usually more. We've visited several pools, turned the sprinkler on in our back yard, had squirt gun fights and water balloon fights. The temperatures have not been unbearably hot yet, but the water still feels great.

A few weeks ago we took Lillian and Claire bowling for the first time. They have been asking about it for months now and we finally had the chance to go. Lillian at first was not too crazy about the idea of having to put bowling shoes on, they did not go with her dress. Then we had the drama of them each wanting the same pair of shoes, so to compromise they both wore one from each pair and had mismatched shoes on. Once we finally got started bowling they did pretty great. The ball moved at a super slow speed down the alley, but it made it. One of the employees offered us a ramp to help. Lillian wanted to quit bowling midway through their first game, but mostly because she just wanted to play the arcade games. Claire had a blast and bowled almost the entire second game for both herself and Lillian. She saw Josh and I bowling as well and wanted to try rolling the ball like we did, but it isn't as easy as it looks. Claire seems excited to try bowling again. Lillian just wants the video games, she doesn't care about bowling.
